In Loving Memory of Murray Brown Born March 3, 1930 – Fredericton, New Brunswick

Murray Brown was born March 3rd, 1930 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, the eldest of four siblings. From a young age, he loved playing baseball and hockey, and carried a lifelong passion for sports—especially his beloved New York Yankees.

He was active in Young Judea and spent cherished summers as a counselor at Camp Kadimah in the 1950s.

Murray earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of New Brunswick, followed by a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax. He worked his way through school bagging groceries—an experience that stuck with him. On our Saturday afternoon shopping trips, he insisted on bagging our groceries himself, convinced he could do it better.

In 1956, Murray took over a dental practice in Saint John, NB, where he met and married the love of his life, Dorothy. Together, they raised four children and built a home filled with love, learning, and laughter.

He was a committed member of the Kiwanis Club, where he became deeply involved in the South End Little League, serving as treasurer for many years. He also contributed to the Beaconsfield Home and School Association as both treasurer and president.

Some of the most cherished memories are of summer afternoon backyard barbeques where laughter echoed around the pool. Murray had a quiet pride in creating a place where family came together – siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, Murray’s calm presence anchored them all, and in those moments his love for his family shone the brightest.

Murray was a quiet, thoughtful, and deeply observant man. He never raised his voice, but he was always paying attention. He found joy in music, movies, and time spent outdoors in his garden. He was a devoted and loving father—always present at the kitchen table to help with homework, and faithfully attending school plays, dance recitals, and Little League games. No birthday or milestone ever passed without a card from Murray; he never missed an opportunity to show his love.

Murray is remembered by his four children: Ruth Ann Brown (Andrew Scott), Pamela (Leslie) Calman, Victoria Tierney (Aaron Cottle), and Richard (Jillian) Brown. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Murray will be laid to rest in MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY, 1210 Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. with Joel Bermack officiating.
