Besides his loving wife of 64 years, Jacquie, Max is survived by their children; the late Michael (Debbie) Stroud, and his children: Sioban, Mackenzie (Megan), and Liam; David (Michelle) Stroud, and their children: Max (Jaden), Zach, Cole (Kayley), and Tate; Kevin (Sandy) Stroud, and his children, Brian and Charlotte; and daughter Joanne (Craig) Stein, and their children: Sydney, Mya, and Piper. Max was also a proud great-grandfather to Gray, Taves, and Michael. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law, Joanne Toop, as well as extended family and many dear friends.
Max was born and raised in Killarney, Manitoba. At age 18 (and a half), he left for Regina and joined the ranks of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. His first posting sent him to Chilliwack, BC, where he met and married the love of his life, Jacqueline “Jacquie” Menard. Together, they went on to live in nine cities across Canada over 15 years. During this time, they welcomed four beautiful children.
His final posting brought him to Lethbridge, Alberta, where he and Jacquie decided to put down roots. Max chose family over career when he declined what would have been his final posting in Grande Prairie, allowing his children to live out their lives in the home they had established.
Upon retiring from the RCMP, Max went on to become an educator in the Criminal Justice Department at Lethbridge College, where he taught for several years. In retirement, Max embraced a new chapter - one that become his most fulfilling role of all; being a grandfather to 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Max and Jacquie were known for their open hearts and open doors, always welcoming friends, family, and even strangers—whether they had two legs or four. Their home was a gathering place filled with laughter, kindness, and unconditional love.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone at St. Terese Villa, and to Dr. Amatto and his staff for their exceptional care and compassion.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 – 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, October 17th, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. with Father Santiago Torres celebrating.
